Jake Gyllenhaal and Health Ledger were apparently convincing in Brokeback Mountain (gay), whilst Joaquin Phoenix made a brilliant (yet oddly pathetic) Johnny Cash (famous). But as the Venn says - PSH combines the two in Capote, and so must win the prize.
